02Who we are
Boink is published by PocketLabs (pocketlabs.fun), a small independent studio. For the purposes of this policy, PocketLabs is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at hola@jfdelarosa.dev. This policy applies to the Boink mobile app. For this website, see the website privacy policy.
03Information stored on your device
Boink stores the following locally using the system's standard storage:
- Your best score
- Your best level reached
- Your settings (sound, music, haptics)
This data is not sent to us and is removed when you delete the app.
04Information we and our providers collect
To operate the game we use the third-party services below. Each one acts under its own terms and privacy policy. None of the data below is linked by us to your name, email or any account, because Boink has no accounts and we never ask for that information.
| Service | Purpose | Used for tracking |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Advertising | Only with your consent (ATT) |
| Sentry | Crash reports and diagnostics | No |
| PostHog | Anonymous product analytics | No |
| Apple (App Store) | Distribution and platform services | No |
Google AdMob: Advertising
What it may collect:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Device and software information (model, OS version, language)
- Advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking
- Ad interaction data (ad requested, shown, completed, clicked) and fraud-prevention signals
Why: To serve and measure the optional rewarded video ad that lets you continue a game, and to prevent ad fraud.
The IDFA is only accessed if you grant permission in the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, ads can still appear but are not personalized using the IDFA.
Read their policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Sentry: Crash reports and diagnostics
What it may collect:
- Device model, OS version and app version
- Stack traces and error details when the app crashes
- Basic performance information
Why: To find and fix bugs and keep the game stable. Reports do not include your name, email or contacts.
Read their policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/
PostHog: Anonymous product analytics
What it may collect:
- Anonymous gameplay events (app opened, game started, level reached, game over, whether a continue was used)
- A randomly generated install identifier created by the app; no user profile is built
Why: To understand how the game is played and improve balance and difficulty.
Read their policy: https://posthog.com/privacy
Apple (App Store): Distribution and platform services
What it may collect:
- Download, purchase and diagnostic information that Apple provides to developers in aggregate (and, if you opt in, App Analytics)
Why: Apple distributes the app. We receive aggregated statistics, not your identity.
Read their policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
05How we use information
- To operate, secure and fix the game.
- To understand and improve gameplay, balance and difficulty.
- To show and measure rewarded ads.
- To answer your support requests.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are legitimate interests (keeping the game working and improving it), consent (for tracking identifiers and, where required, ad personalization) and, for support requests, performance of your request. We do not use the data for anything else and we do not do automated decision-making that has legal effects on you.
06Ads and tracking (ATT)
Boink offers an optional rewarded video ad that lets you continue a game. On iOS, before the first ad request, the app shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. Google AdMob may use the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you tap "Allow". If you decline, the game works the same and ads may still be shown, but they are not personalized using the IDFA.
Users in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland may also be shown a consent form from Google's User Messaging Platform where required by law.
07Sharing and sale of data
We share data only with the service providers listed above, each acting under its own terms and privacy policy, and where required by law. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising ourselves. Note that advertising partners such as Google AdMob may treat ad-related data under their own policies, and under some US state laws ad delivery can be considered "sharing" or "targeted advertising"; the opt-outs below apply.
08Your choices and how to opt out
- Tracking (ATT): iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Turn off Boink, or turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" for all apps.
- Ad consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and some US states): open Boink > Settings > Privacy Choices to review or change the consent or opt-out choice you made in Google's consent form.
- Personalized ads: iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising, and Google's ad settings at adssettings.google.com.
- Reset your advertising identifier: deleting the app and reinstalling creates a new anonymous install ID for analytics.
- Analytics and crash reports: to have data tied to your install deleted, email us (see Your rights).
- Local data: delete the app to remove everything stored on your device.
- Global Privacy Control: we honor opt-out preference signals where the technology allows.
09Children
Boink is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (including under the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA). In the EEA and UK, where the digital age of consent is higher than 13, please do not use the app below your local age unless a parent or guardian has agreed. If you believe a child has provided us information, email hola@jfdelarosa.dev and we will delete it.
10International transfers
Our providers operate globally, so data may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the provider's participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
11Data retention
Local data stays on your device until you delete the app. Crash reports and analytics events are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above and are then deleted or aggregated, according to the retention settings of each provider. Support emails are kept as long as needed to resolve your request and for reasonable record-keeping.
12Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data protection authority. These rights come from laws such as:
- EU/UK GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent.
- CCPA/CPRA (California) and similar US state laws: know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
- Mexico's LFPDPPP (Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares): access, rectification, cancellation and opposition (ARCO rights).
To exercise any right, email hola@jfdelarosa.dev. Because analytics are keyed to a random install ID rather than your identity, we may ask you to help us locate the data (for example, with your device model and approximate dates of play). We will respond within the time required by applicable law (generally within 30 days).
13Security
We rely on the security practices of the platforms and providers above and transmit data over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's App Store listing where appropriate. Our Terms of Use also apply to Boink.
